The 2023 HIT

It’s almost time

The 11th HIT Hot Topics conference
Liverpool, 10 November

The dates are locked in, the next HIT Hot Topics conference will be on 10th November in Liverpool. We will be announcing speakers and venue details over the next couple of months so keep checking back here on the site.

As always, HIT Hot Topics is not just the conference itself, we have a pre-event the night before (venue details to be announced) and then on the evening of the conference itself we will be holding our usual gig at Liverpool’s Historic Cavern Club. So make sure you have hotel rooms booked.

There are also a number of supported places available if finances are tight.

Side Events

Making the most of us being together in the same city

As always with our conference we are arranging side events both the evening before and the evening of the conference. We know from speaking to you all every year that these are some of the most important social times of the year and often are the only times we get to be around so many like-minded people.

Harm Reduction Cafe

The Bridewell – 1 Campbell Square, Liverpool, L1 5FB

Harm reduction’s wilderness years appear to be over. With a renewed focus on harm reduction and a huge shift in the drugs market anticipated, now is the time to come together and organise around harm reduction.

Join us at the Harm Reduction Café on 9 November to hear about a proposal for a Harm Reduction Alliance, a loose collective of harm reductionists who will work together to ensure that services are prepared to respond quickly to changes in the drugs market and to disseminate information in a timely fashion. This talk will start at 7.30.

Afterwards, join us for a light buffet to socialise and to network. Many of our conference speakers also attend the café, so this is always an amazing opportunity to really get to know each other in a more relaxed environment.

Cavern Club (Live Lounge)

Our annual Cavern Club charity event is where the HIT team finally get to relax and enjoy ourselves. Always featuring the Sensational HIT Soul Band and one or two other invited bands, this is a night of music in one of the most famous venues in the world. We know that for many people who come to our conference each year this is the highlight of the events!

Our Speakers

We have started announcing speakers and so pricing is now at the earlybird rate, tickets will stay at this point for a few weeks until we get towards the end of the speaker annoucements. The price of tickets will rise again to the full price soon so trust us and book your place early.

Simon Williams
In 2016, Simon answered his calling and joined the harm reduction field. Having grown up around substance use, this was a real opportunity to use his skills to make a positive difference to the lives and health of people who use drugs. As Learning Lead at Mainline Foundation, Simon develops capacity strengthening programmes targeted at harm reduction practitioners who work directly with people who use drugs.

At HIT we have been running the Hot Topics Harm Reduction Conference since 2011. Other than the short forced break (that whole pandemic thing… remember) we have flown the flag for harm reduction in the UK by bringing together some of the greatest leaders and advocates from around the world. You can find an archive of previous conferences over on the main HIT website.
